Hamburg filmmaker Torben Loth has been doing a lot of work in the recent past for various artists on their music videos, including Pretty Lady by Roast Apple, featuring acclaimed German actor Frederick Lau.

But his film Mongolia – A Distant Dream takes him back to his roots as a storyteller. Back in 2018 he drove through Mongolia for an entire month alongside two childhood friends. On the road they encountered stunning nature, wildlife, and many adventures, including the obvious car troubles. While doing a stunning work of art in the process would already be an achievement, he managed to work on a poem and illustrations accompanying the film as well. The result is a complete work of art telling a story of friendship and the beauty on this planet.

It all seems fragmented
like a distant dream
and I try to hold on
to all the things that I’ve seen

I remember a place
unruly and wild
a land of vast plains
with no end in sight

I remember mountain peaks
stern and proud
eagles soaring
Roaming the clouds

I remember deserts
dunes of dust and wind
so let me tell you this story
but where to begin?

I remember a place
unruly and wild
a land of adventure
a land of clear skies

And as this story
has come to an end
what I remember most
is I was there with my friends
